The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti met with the Special Representative of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, within the Delphi Economic Forum in Greece.
As the Prime Minister announces, Kurti spoke about the commitment of government in one year and reconfirmed that European and Euro-Atlantic integrations have no alternative. He stressed the need for European Union assistance in this journey.
The meeting focused on the progress of the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as the next steps in this process.
Two weeks away from the deadline for an agreement about vehicle license plates, Kurti said that this issue was also discussed.
“The issue of vehicle license plates between Kosovo and Serbia was also discussed. The Prime Minister highlighted the fact that we are two weeks away from the deadline for an agreement on this issue, based on current standards and best practices of the European Union. “Thanking him for the commitment and support of the European Union for the dialogue, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the contribution they are giving in terms of the relationship between Kosovo and Serbia, lasting peace, long-term stability and regional security,” the statement said.
Kosovo and Serbia continued negotiations in Brussels as part of efforts to find a permanent solution on use of vehicle plates as a six-month deadline for reaching a deal is approaching.
The Special Representative of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak said that with the deadline approaching, it’s urgent to reach a compromise to improve the freedom of movement in the region.
