Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and US Ambassador Yuri Kim are embroiled in a debate with accusations against each other.

Berisha even called on the US State Department not to allow Ambassador Kim to interfere in court proceedings in Albania. Berisha’s request was forwarded by Top News and Gazeta Shqip to the US State Department.

The response returned by the State Department shows the support of this institution for Ambassador Kim, as he considers the attacks against her unjustified. According to them, those involved in corruption or undermining democracy will be held accountable.

“Unwarranted attacks on the US Ambassador in Tirana, the personal representative of the President of the United States, do not represent the Albanian people. Those who engage in corruption or undermine democracy must be held accountable,” the State Department said in a statement.
