A member of the Ukrainian Parliament, Oleksiy Goncharenko, presented today the resolution for the recognition of Kosovo’s independence.
“Ukraine shares Western values and will support democracy anywhere in the world. I hope that Ukraine will recognize the independence of Kosovo as soon as possible”, commented on this occasion, deputy Goncharenko, on social networks.
Ukraine has tried to maintain a neutral position towards Kosovo, fearing that its recognition would be used by Russia as a trigger to secede its eastern regions. Now that Russia is trying to forcibly separate these regions from it, there is no practical reason for Ukraine not to recognize Kosovo.
Goncharenko has written about Kosovo before. After provocations in the north, a few days ago, he wrote that if Serbia attacks Kosovo, Ukraine should help Kosovo defend itself from Putin’s “Trojan horse” in Europe.
“You are crazy,” Ambassador Richard Grenell wrote to him on Twitter, but Goncharenko responded by showing him the statement of Serbian analyst Janjic according to which Grenell is paid $100,000 a month by the President of Serbia, Vucic.
It remains to be seen how successful the resolution for Kosovo will be in the Ukrainian Rada.
