Northern Macedonia buys the system that monitors 150 kilometers of land border

Northern Macedonia has purchased three mobile surveillance and surveillance systems from the MUSON – MUSON 20FM series, developed by the Bulgarian company Opticoelectron, reports the BulgarianMilitary.com website.

The site quotes an official Opticoelectron representative, but does not provide details on the value of the deal, although it is reported that negotiations are already underway for a second purchase of the same systems.

The acquired systems will improve the effectiveness of the protection of the border of Northern Macedonia. The country joined NATO in March 2020 and is currently the Balkans’ external border with Kosovo and Serbia. The new system will provide surveillance of nearly 150km of the country’s land border.

“This system is also used by the Bulgarian border guards and so far MUSON has bought several Scandinavian and Central European countries. We have questions from the Middle East and Africa, negotiations are underway, but so far we can not announce the next agreement before it becomes a reality, “said Boyan Garchev, procurement officer of Opticoelectron.

MUSON 20FM is an integrated configuration of a multi-sensor system with high-resolution day and thermal / IR cameras and clear graphic images. It can record videos as well as capture certain moments in the form of photos, and then be stored in the configuration archive infrastructure. The system has an open architecture, which allows the integration of various updates or upgrades, as well as an autonomous connection to any ground motion sensor that can automatically activate the system if it is at rest.

The range of these optical devices is 20+ km. A telescopic tower raises the entire multisensory system to a certain height, thus enabling the operator to take a 360-degree view of the surrounding environment. The system has a stabilizer, which ensures its smooth operation when driving in hard-to-reach areas and off-road. MUSON 20FM has its own independent power supply. The whole system is controlled by a computerized control keyboard.

The MUSON 20FM, according to Opticoelectron, can be integrated into many vehicle models.
