Macedonia, imprisonment from 1 to 5 years if genocide is denied or justified

The Minister of Interior, Oliver Spasovski said that if in the information system someone denies, minimizes, approves or justifies criminal offenses against the civilian population, this is a criminal offense.

“According to the Criminal Code, a person who publicly denies or minimizes, justifies and approves these acts is at risk of imprisonment from 1 to 5 years. “If this act is committed for inciting hatred, discrimination or violence against a person due to ethnicity, religion, the perpetrator will be sentenced to a minimum of 4 years,” said Spasovski.

Earlier, the Ministry of Interior and the Prosecution announced that there was a prison for denying the genocide.

“The Prosecution and the Ministry of Interior are intensively monitoring all statements and social networks related to the events in Ukraine and in accordance with their legal competencies, will take measures against all perpetrators who commit criminal offenses by declaring their views,” said the Ministry of Interior. .
