The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti commented on the progress report for Kosovo, saying that the country has made progress in many areas.
Kurti, in a press conference together with the head of the EU office in Kosovo, Tomas Szunyog, said that Kosovo has started preparations to apply for membership in the European Union.
“We have started preparations to submit the application for membership in the European Union as a first step with the aim of obtaining candidate status”, said Kurti.
Among other things, Kurti began to comment on the areas in which he says that Kosovo has progressed.
“There has been progress in many areas, despite the global crisis that not only Kosovo but the entire European continent is facing. From the beginning, the report congratulates Kosovo for its political stability and stability. Even this year, reforms have been undertaken that have been recommendations of the EU for a long time, and which were ignored by previous governments, such as: private customs terminals are not in harmony with the Stabilization and Association Agreement, and the gradual transition from those private to public has been recommended since 2018.
Last year we opened the customs terminal in Mitrovica, while we turned the one in Podujeve into a state terminal. We have increased the fight against corruption. We supported the farmers…”, he said.
