Kurti for Portuguese television: Russia’s weapons to Serbia are not for parades, but for wars

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, gave an interview to the Portuguese Public Television RTP. Among other things, Prime Minister Kurti spoke about the need for Kosovo to join NATO and the EU.

The close military cooperation of recent years with Russia and Serbia, according to Kurti, should be viewed with concern. The armament that Russia guarantees to Serbia, he said, is not for parades, but for wars.

He said that the sooner Kosovo’s integration advances, the safer the region will be.

“Kosovo must join NATO. “Kosovo must join the EU,” said Kurti.

Kurti drew attention to the close military cooperation between Serbia and Russia.

“The Kremlin is trying to use Serbia as a proxy to destabilize the Balkans. Serbia is buying military equipment from Russia. Of the 49 MIG-29 fighter jets they have, 8 have been donated by the Russian Federation. “A joint military corps has been set up between Russia and Serbia, and as we see in Ukraine, all the weapons that have been purchased are not just for parades, but for wars,” Kurti said.

Kurti has criticized EU states that have so far neglected the joint military preparation of Russia and Serbia in recent years.

“Military equipment is a preparatory phase for military machinery. “Many EU countries have neglected this joint military preparation between Russia and Serbia,” he said.

Also, Prime Minister Kurti, through Portuguese television, has asked for Portugal’s help to achieve the recognition of Spain. He initially demanded the recognition of passports and the opening of a Spanish liaison office in Pristina.

Madrid is not Belgrade and Spain is not Serbia, said Kurti, while talking about the similarities that the Spanish state can find in the case of Kosovo with Catalonia or the Basque countries.
