Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla responded to the representatives of Serbia and Russia in the UN Security Council where the UNMIK mandate was discussed.
Gërvalla reacted harshly to Foreign Minister of Serbia, Nikola Selakovic, who said that the real butchers in the Balkans were Hashim Thaci and Kadri Veseli.
“I do not want to waste much time here. You all know what happened in the Balkans in the 1990s. It’s just a truth. The butcher of the Balkans is Milosevic. It is a shame that Serbia has not yet accepted the reality. Milosevic started his crimes from Slovenia to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and then to Kosovo. NATO came to stop it. I understand why Russia speaks against us. She is not happy that Kosova is a state of success. Being here and listening to the Russian presenter attack the KLA reminds me of the heroic people of Ukraine who are defending their country and the propaganda you are doing against them. KLA members defended their country and their homes. “I would not be proud to represent any of your countries,” she said.
Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla has mentioned the life threat made to Swiss Senator Dick Marty by the Serbian secret service. She responded to statements by Foreign Minister of Serbia Nikola Selakovic at the UN Security Council that Serbs in Kosovo were “endangered”.
Gërvalla responded by saying that these were false statements identical to those of Milosevic and that created pretexts for intervention in other states.
“The foreign minister is not only trying to falsify the facts, but also to create a perception like Milosevic. He tried to create a perception that Serbs were in danger and needed military intervention to protect them. We have had such cases. We have the case of “Panda” in Peja where the blame was left to the KLA for years, while it was the Serbs who killed the Serbs. Let me talk about Dick Martyn. He accused Kosovo representatives of committing war crimes during and after the war. The same Mr. Dick Marty told the media in recent days that the Swiss police approached him and offered him greater security because the Serbian intelligence wanted to kill him and leave the blame to Kosovo. These are the words of the Swiss Police and not of Kosovo. It is an ancient and very dangerous tradition. As we see in Ukraine when people say we have people at risk, which they are not. “But this is done only for political gain,” she said.
Gërvalla mentioned the murder of her father, Jusuf Gërvalla, in Germany by the Serbian secret services. She said that these killings are the old tradition of Serbs, which was almost repeated with Dick Marty.
