Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin has become the latest European leader to visit Ukraine.
Marin met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday in Kyiv.
Finnish public broadcaster YLE says she also visited the towns of Bucha and Irpin where Russian soldiers are alleged to have killed civilians.
The Finnish leader pledged to help rebuild cities and rebuild infrastructure, according to Ukraine’s prime minister.
This comes after Finland formally submitted its application to join NATO while Russian aggression in Ukraine continues.
Zelensky, after the meeting, said that such visits by high-ranking politicians are “direct and very important signals of support.”
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Finland after visits to Irpin and Bucha said that “it was extremely difficult to see everything that Russia has done to these cities.”
“Many people died,” she said. “At the same time, the heroic spirit of the Ukrainian people, who are fighting for their freedom and for the whole of Europe, is admirable.”
