Following Serbia’s decision to sign a new multi-year gas supply contract with Russia, Congressman Ritchie Torres reacted.
On his Twitter account, Torres said that Serbia is a satellite of Russia, while Kosovo is an unwavering friend of the United States.
“It should be remembered that Serbia is a satellite for Russia, while Kosovo is a constant friend of the United States. “We in the US must never forget who our true friends are,” Torres wrote.
Regarding this, the Office of the Presidency of Kosovo reacted on Sunday.
Blerim Vela, President Vjosa Osmani’s chief of staff, has asked the European Union how long it will tolerate this.
“Putin and Vucic agreed in a phone call today that Russia will continue to supply natural gas to Serbia and the two countries will strengthen their partnership.”
“Serbia, an EU candidate country, instead of approximating to EU sanctions, deepens cooperation with Russia. “How long will the EU tolerate this?” Vela wrote on his Twitter account.
Serbia, which aims to join the European Union, has recently come under pressure from Western countries to join the bloc’s foreign policy to impose sanctions on Russia over the war in Ukraine.
In 2008 Serbia handed over its gas and oil sectors to Russian companies.
Gazprom Neft and Gazprom jointly hold a majority stake in the country’s only oil company, while Gazprom is the majority shareholder in Serbia’s only gas storage facility.
