Cavusoglu promises Kurti: Turkey will not allow Balkans to return to dark years of ’90s

Prime Minister Albin Kurti met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Mevlut Cavusoglu.

The Republic of Turkey is a great partner, friend and ally of the Republic of Kosovo, said Prime Minister Kurti, while expressing gratitude for the continuous support given to our country.

Minister Cavusoglu stressed the support of the Republic of Turkey for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as for membership in international organizations. He said that Turkey supports our country’s membership in the Council of Europe and that Kosovo is a NATO partner country. He also stressed that the Republic of Turkey attaches great importance to peace and stability and that it will not allow the Balkan region to return to the dark years of the ’90s” announced the Office of the Prime Minister.

Cavusoglu also praised the excellent bilateral relations, increased economic and investment co-operation.

Emphasizing institutional stability and positive economic indicators, Prime Minister Kurti reiterated the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to encourage investment through sustainable economic and social development, and the fight against crime and corruption.

He singled out Kosovo’s goal of membership in NATO ‘s Partnership for Peace, while emphasizing opportunities for increased co – operation in defense and security.

According to the announcement of the Office of the Prime Minister, the meeting discussed many areas of cooperation in economy, energy, security and defense. Numerous ties between the two countries were praised, highlighting those between the citizens, which are a bridge for strong bilateral relations.

Cavusoglu through a post on Twitter said that they talked with Kurti about the cooperation between the Government of Kosovo and Turkey.

“We discussed the modalities to advance our cooperation with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti. I emphasized the threat posed by the terrorist organization FETO” wrote the Turkish chief diplomat.
