Albania’s first commitment as chair of the UN Security Council will be to call on the body on June 2nd to discuss “strengthening accountability and violations of international law”.
“Justice and peace go hand in hand and Albania remains fully committed in this direction. “We are privileged to give voice to our convictions and we will lead the United Nations Security Council with all our will and passion for what we strongly believe in,” Rama said.
Albania takes over the presidency of the UN in one of the most difficult geopolitical periods.

From June 1, for one month, Albania will chair the UN Security Council.
This is the first time the country has taken on such a role in this international organization, since it was selected to be a temporary member of the UN Security Council this year.
