“Levizja Vetevendosje” is holding the 57th meeting of the General Council. The chairman of this party, also the Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, is participating in this meeting.
During his speech before the members of the Council, Kurti added that now the image of Kosovo has a newer content both in the political and economic sense.
He mentioned Kosovo’s application for membership in the Council of Europe, saying that preparations are being made for application to NATO and the EU.
“We have applied for membership in the Council of Europe. Our membership in the CoE is an added value for the Council and an opportunity for Kosovo to make further progress in the field of justice. “We are making preparations for applying for membership in the Peace Partnership within NATO, and we will also apply for EU membership,” said Kurti.
The Prime Minister said that one year of government has been quite challenging, mentioning the pandemic, the energy crisis, the Russian aggression in Ukraine and many other issues.
Kurti added that during this year, in addition to challenges, they have made progress in several areas.
“We have marked economic growth, we have taken important steps in strengthening the justice system, we have fought crime and corruption, we have advanced alliances and we have strengthened relations with a friendly state. “Kosovo has become a beacon of democracy in the region,” said Kurti.
Kurti also spoke about his two-week official visit to the United States.
The Prime Minister added that during this visit he met 7 senators and 12 congressmen, and 7 senior officials of the American government.
This meeting is led by Hydajet Hyseni – Kaloshi.
At the beginning of this meeting, Hyseni asked all the delegates to observe a minute of silence in honor of the former President of Albania, Bujar Nishani, who passed away yesterday.
