France’s ambassador to the United Nations, Nathalie Estival-Broadhurst, has said her country has expressed concern about the ongoing political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina since last summer.
As she said, such a crisis jeopardizes the almost 30-year achievement of institution building and reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Broadhurst further said that in the face of this worrying dynamic, an international presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina remains necessary for the stability of Bosnia and the region.
The French diplomat said that the presence of the EUFOR mission in Bosnia should continue, while mentioning Kosovo, saying that the European Union helps reduce tensions between Kosovo and Serbia through the EULEX mission.
Broadhust said that with the unprecedented war that Russia has launched in Ukraine, France will not stop its efforts to work for the stability of Europe and in particular of the Balkans.
“As the European continent faces an unprecedented challenge stemming from Russia’s war in Ukraine, we will spare no effort to work for stability in Europe, especially in the Balkans,” said Ambassador Broadhurst to the Security Council.
Face à ces dynamiques préoccupantes, la présence internationale en Bosnie-Herzégovine reste nécessaire à la stabilité du pays et de la région.
