Yesterday in his speech at the Economic Forum in Greece, Prime Minister Kurti demanded that the Hellenic state recognize Kosovo’s independence. Today, Greek Chief Diplomat Nikos Dendias met with the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti and his Deputy Donika Gërvalla in Delphi, Greece.

The Greek Foreign Ministry has distributed some photos from the meeting where it is said that economic cooperation and the dialogue process with Serbia were discussed.

“Meeting on the sidelines of the Delphi Economic Forum between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla. “Discussions on economic cooperation and developments in the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue,” reads the announcement of the Greek Foreign Ministry.

In his speech at the Economic Forum being held in Delphi, Greece on Friday, Kurti said that the recognition of Greece could bring Kosovo new recognitions from other countries.

“We have good communication and cooperation with Greece, between the people of Kosovo and Greece, between the two governments. It’s just a bridge we have to cross. It is time for Greece to recognize Kosovo. Before this and especially after recognition, we can increase economic cooperation and trade exchange. “I think that Greece is a regional leader and can help Kosovo gain new recognitions,” said Kurti.

Kurti was also asked about the delay in visa liberalization by the European Union for the citizens of Kosovo.

“People are frustrated by the delay, I myself have been critical, but we have no other alternative. “Our approach is membership in the European Union.”

As another goal of the Government led by him, Kurti said that it is also NATO membership.

“We hope that we can contribute to the security of the continent by becoming a member of NATO,” said Kurti, who once again condemned Russia’s actions in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Kurti has been in Greece since Thursday and met with Special Envoy for Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak and State Department envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar.
