The Committee on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora hosted today a delegation from the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania.
After the meeting, the chairman of the commission, Haki Abazi, said that they discussed to interact and coordinate the joint agenda in the Security Council, where Albania is a temporary member.
“Our entire conversation focused on the possibility and potential of cooperation and coordination of our work towards the United Nations, where Albania is now a member of the Security Council. It is certainly a long list of actions that have taken place and are taking place, but it is a moment of intensification especially towards international institutions. We are not here to raise hopes in terms of Kosovo’s membership in the United Nations, I know very well that it is a long and difficult process. “But the circumstances that we are in enable a greater interaction of the two countries in this direction”, he said.
Meanwhile, the representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Albania, Gazmend Turdiu, said that the consolidation of Kosovo’s independence and statehood has an impact on the security and stability of the region.
He underlined that they will push forward the joint agendas of the two states in the Security Council.
“We are interested in contributing to the stability and security of the Western Balkans, of course the issue of consolidating the independence and statehood of Kosovo is a major thing and a positive impact on the security and stability of the entire region. “We gladly exchanged views openly, fraternally and amicably, and discussed how we could coordinate to advance our common agendas in international organizations, including the Security Council.”
Otherwise, last week the Albanian Foreign Affairs Commission stayed in Kosovo.
