Nine countries armed with nuclear bombs have spent $ 82.4 billion on updating their nuclear weapons during 2021, about 8 percent more than in 2020, according to the group for the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Bombs.
According to the annual report on nuclear spending by this group, the largest spender turns out to be the US, which has spent half of the total, followed by China, Russia, the United Kingdom and France.
“During 2021, countries armed with nuclear bombs have spent a lot of money, while most countries in the world support a global ban on nuclear bombs,” the group said in a report.
“These huge expenditures failed to prevent a war in Europe and many valuable resources were wasted, which could be addressed in the current security challenges, or in tackling the global pandemic situation. “This cycle of corruption in unnecessary spending must end.”
KNSHBN reported that nuclear bomb manufacturers also spend millions on lobbying over defense, where every $ 1 spent on lobbying is on average the $ 256 spent on new contracts involving nuclear bombs.
