The Government of Kosovo in the last meeting has decided to ban the export and re-export of some basic products.

According to Prime Minister Albin Kurti, this decision is being taken in a situation when the supply chain is difficult, affected by the Russian military invasion and aggression in Ukraine.

The Russian military invasion and aggression in Ukraine has affected the food supply chain in Europe, the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade with relevant institutions and market actors has followed the increases in product prices in the country and evidence of exports of goods. “Today MINT has brought the decision that prohibits the export and re-export of some agro-food products”, said Kurti.

Whereas, according to the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, the export or re-export of these products may jeopardize the supply of citizens in the country.

“Exports and re-exports of goods, no matter how small, could jeopardize the supply of our population in the future. In cooperation with Kosovo Customs and by following the exports on a daily basis, therefore to alleviate the situation we propose to make a temporary ban on some basic products. The decision is based on the Law on Foreign and Internal Trade. “Export or re-export is prohibited, such as cereals, flour, edible oil, sugar and salts”, said Hajdari.

Also in this meeting was approved the increase of the minimum wage to 250 euros net and the review of the budget for 2022 was done.
