Albanian Pilots Now Command U.S. Black Hawk Helicopters

Share

In a landmark achievement, Albanian Armed Forces pilots and technicians have completed rigorous training with American SATMO instructors, certifying 8 pilots and 8 maintenance specialists. This certification enhances their expertise in crucial areas such as engine and avionics maintenance, significantly boosting Albania’s air capabilities.

The American SATMO team will continue to advance the skills of these pilots in specialized modules like troop transport, fast-rope operations, firefighting, and night flying with NVGs. Lieutenant Colonel Ervin Buzi and Major Klajdi Tushe have already made notable progress, mastering emergency management and advanced flight operations.

The arrival of two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters in January, funded by over $50 million in U.S. aid, marks a major upgrade for the Albanian Air Force. These helicopters will enhance Albania’s capacity for medical evacuations, search and rescue missions, and NATO logistical support, reflecting the growing military cooperation between Albania and the U.S.
