The Albanian community in Northern California, predominantly in the Bay Area, may be smaller in size compared to other Albanian communities in the USA, but it is truly unique and dedicated not only to successful careers in various fields but also to preserving and cultivating the patriotic Albanian traditions, language, and culture.
Despite its relatively small numbers, our community has a long history of immigration dating back to the 1960s, with many coming from Albania, the Malesia region, and more recently from Kosovo and North Macedonia.
Living and thriving in such a beautiful place where the sun, success, and democracy are abundant is truly a source of pride. We have a significant number of engineers, entrepreneurs, lawyers, analysts, and professionals in highly sought-after fields, often serving as outstanding examples of talent and exceptional contributions. Many of them work for major technology companies such as Apple, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, LinkedIn, Salesforce, Airbnb, and are also employed in public administration within the state of California, like Mr. Hasan Berisha, a licensed geodetic engineer who contributes to the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure within the California State Department of Transportation.
Additionally, we have Albanians who are creating innovative products and services with global fame. We take pride in these successes, which serve as an inspiration for our community and a guide for our lives today and our aspirations for tomorrow.
Recently, there has been an increased influx of Albanian immigration, with the majority being young individuals from Kosovo who have benefited from higher education in the USA, continuing their studies at renowned universities such as Stanford, UC Berkeley, and others. These universities provide opportunities to develop knowledge in engineering, computer science, mathematics, and other technology-related fields.
With their qualifications and acquired expertise, these young individuals have found positions in companies in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, the two most advanced places in the world for technology and innovation.
Furthermore, in the business world, Albanians have shown great abilities and have become founders of successful companies, restaurants, and businesses.
Our community is also patriotic, and everyone is eager to preserve Albanian traditions and values. For instance, this summer, the annual festival was organized in San Jose, with donations from the community and outstanding organization by activists with origins from Malësia and Ulqini.
This event was a manifestation of great happiness, heritage, culture, and success. Besides Albanian cuisine, the festival offered various other activities and was accompanied by traditional music and songs, creating a delightful and enjoyable atmosphere.
An art exhibition was also organized, where young Albanians showcased their unique creations @shqiptarworld.net.
Participants in the festival had the opportunity to take part in sports activities and various games as well. The community was reflected as a source of pride with hope that efforts to preserve the Albanian language, traditions, and culture will continue, as well as the success achieved by our youth./Dielli
