National Geographic has chosen the best photographs of 2022. And among them, there is one from Kosovo.
Of the 2 million 238 thousand 899 photos sent to National Geographic, there is also one from Llapi – the place where the hero of the nation, Zahir Pajaziti, was killed.
Description of the photo in Albanian language: “Lladovc, Kosovo | A Lladë is encased in a glass case at a memorial to the early heroes of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). The car was carrying KLA members, Zahir Pajaziti, Edmond Hoxha and Hakif Zejnullahu, when it was ambushed by Serbian forces in 1997.”
This photo was taken by photographer Justyna Mielnikievicz.
Zahir Pajaziti was a KLA commander born in 1962. He was killed on January 31, 1997 together with the aforementioned fighters.
