Kosovo was presented this year at the Venice Biennale with the variety of colors of “Monumentality of Everyday”.
This work of art was liked by visitors, but even more adorable made it the shape of the submarine.
Engjëll Berisha, part of the Kosovo team, told Klankosova.tv that the comments about the Kosovar artist Jakup Ferri and his pavilion in Venice were very positive.
“The public welcomed it very well, we had a very large number of visitors as usual at the Venice Biennale. Everyone was amazed by the colors and the presentation of Jakup’s works, considering that next to us was the Ukrainian pavilion, it was represented by a gloom, and immediately passed to the Kosovo pavilion which was much more vibrant. “We received many comments from the Ukrainian pavilion who told us that they hope that one day they will be like us,” said Berisha.
Although it is an idea, its realization requires sacrifice, so the whole “Monumentality of Everyday” was worked with a specific material.
Berisha has claimed that “the first Kosovar submarine” stays calm “in Italian waters”.
“Jakup’s works, in contrast, are intended with a very specific installation, it was created in order to fit Jakup’s works, but at the same time it was presented as something else. The curator and the architect have managed to base the design on the interior of a submarine based on Jakup’s drawings, sometimes ironically presenting it as the first Kosovo submarine, as well as the space where the pavilion is located in a maritime place where ships are located and so on. “they sleep well in the space in which it is”, Berisha affirmed.
For this year, Kosovo for the first time has opened a competition to be represented at the Venice Biennale, where the artist Jakup Ferri has been selected. Berisha stressed that they have received very good support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The Venice Biennale will be open from April 23 to November 27, with 80 participants.
