Pristina, the capital of Kosova, and Staten Island, New York, have officially become sister cities! This partnership aims to promote collaboration, cultural exchanges, and a bright future based on our shared values.
Mayor Përparim Rama announced it on Facebook, stating, “Pristina and Staten Island are now sister cities. Together, we will bring people closer, foster collaboration, and honor our common values.”
During the twinning ceremony, Staten Island Borough President Vito J. Fossella paid tribute to the Albanian people by naming a street after Ismail Qemali, a key figure in Albania’s fight for independence and statehood.
Staten Island, with its vibrant Albanian-American community comprising 13% of the population, actively contributes to its growth and advancement. Mayor Rama expressed gratitude to the organizers, Mr. Naser Nika and Dr. Bahri Ceka, as well as Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis for her remarkable contributions./Atlantiku
