In Tirana, Albanian artist Avni Delvina has unveiled his provocative new exhibition, Triumph, featuring 35 imaginative paintings of Donald Trump. The exhibition portrays the former and newly elected US President as larger-than-life figures, including a Roman Emperor, a Greek Titan, and a spirit of freedom.
Through his art, Delvina likens Trump to Julius Caesar, a tidal wave, and even the iconic Wall Street bull. One striking piece depicts Trump in a tuxedo, playing a violin, surrounded by European leaders in a lifeboat. Trump is important everywhere, Delvina told BIRN, emphasizing the impact of Trump’s spirit of freedom on global politics.
Notably, opposition leader Sali Berisha attended the exhibition, declaring Trump’s election victory as a monumental event after World War Two and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Berisha, sanctioned by the US for alleged corruption, voiced hope for a better relationship with the new Trump administration.
The exhibition, hosted in Tirana’s iconic Pyramid, originally built to honor dictator Enver Hoxha, runs until January 26.
