In a week-long celebration, Albanian schools affiliated with “Alba Life” Ambassador of the Nation in New York marked the National Flag Day with fervor and pride. The festivities were held in advance of the upcoming weekend closure of public schools for Thanksgiving. This early commemoration allowed students to honor the sacred Flag Day with a grand display of patriotism and cultural appreciation.
Under the dedicated guidance of passionate teachers such as Fatlinda Gashi, Rozeta Daci, Entela Muda, Elona Shkreta, Kade Lajqi, Helena Ujkaj, Albana Lazri, and Mehrije Shala, along with enthusiastic assistants, students showcased a brief yet impactful artistic program. This included recitations of patriotic poems, traditional dances, and renditions of national songs. The schools, including those in Brooklyn and Staten Island, were filled with the vibrant energy of students donned in traditional costumes, waving flags, and radiating pride.
The celebration also featured the broadcast of the Declaration of Independence, echoing the historic words of Ismail Bej Vlora on November 28, 1912. Noteworthy was the presence of former teachers and alumni, adding an extra layer of significance to the event. Qemal Zylo, the founder and director of Albanian schools “Alba Life” in New York and Online, expressed pride in the serious and successful program that has positioned their institution as a prestigious hub of Albanian education in the city. The festivities culminated in the sharing of joyous moments, including the cutting of an Independence Day cake and musical performances dedicated to the spirit of Albanian unity.
