The Albanian-American Cultural Center “Struga” in Riverdale, New Jersey, hosted the 7th annual Albanian School Festival on November 9, 2024. This event brought together Albanian schools from New Jersey and New York in a celebration of Albanian culture, language, and heritage. Organized under the leadership of Center President Sinan Alimi and coordinated by Activity Director Nafi Sllatina, along with Arta Alimi, the festival was supported by a dedicated team, including Vice President Jeton Abduramani, Education Coordinator Gonxhe Meta, and choreographer Xhemal Bekteshi. The evening’s live music was provided by the group “X3” featuring composer Faton Krasniqi, Fadil Sahatçiu, and clarinetist Nehat Curri.
The event was hosted by journalist Faton Arifi, who welcomed participants and highlighted the festival’s purpose: to celebrate and pass on Albanian traditions to future generations. A special guest at the festival was Mr. Fatmir Zajmi, a representative of the Kosovo Consulate in New York, who delivered a speech appreciating the festival’s role in preserving Albanian language and cultural identity. He thanked organizers, parents, and students for their efforts and participation.
Albanian schools and groups from the region, including “Struga” “Rugova” “Mëso Shqip Barbana” “Children of the Eagle” “Skënderbeu” and “Nora e Kelmendit” participated in the festival, which attracted over 400 students and spectators. The event concluded with a festive atmosphere, uniting the community in celebration just before Albania’s November holidays.
