The Albanian American Law Enforcement Association (AALEA) is confirmed again as the most important and active professional organization in the Albanian community in the United States. On July 12, AALEA organized an exclusive evening attended by top officials from the police and other law enforcement institutions.
At the exclusive event in New Jersey, AALEA honored three important figures in the field with an award: First Deputy Commissioner of the New York Police, Mr. Edward Caban; The Chief of Strategic Initiatives in the New York Police, Mr. Isa Abbassi; and NYPD Chaplain the Rev. Robert Romano.
The award given to these extraordinary personalities was a sign of gratitude and appreciation for their selfless dedication and tireless efforts to protect the wider community, but also for their special relationship and friendship with the Albanian community in New York. The guests of honor thanked AALEA for the organization’s contribution to building bridges of cooperation, as well as expressed their highest appreciation for the professionalism, dedication and patriotism of the Albanian-American community.
It should be noted the great interest in this event, as shown by the presence of various American personalities and local officials. In fact, in attendance for the evening were Cliffside Park Mayor Thomas Calabrese, Cliffside Park Police Chief Marc Marano,
Deputy Chairman of the New York Detectives Union Paul E. Morrison representatives of state troopers from New York and New Jersey, as well as other senior leaders of the New Jersey Federal Police.
Another personality present was Mr. Munr Kazmir, Vice President of the American Jewish Congress, one of the oldest, most representative and important organizations of the Jewish community in the United States.
Sergeant Victoria Kusick and AALEA President Mr. Elton Shametaj. In his speech, Mr. Shametaj emphasized the extraordinary work that the organization is doing in consolidating the Albanian community and building stable and long-term ties with the American elite in the field of law enforcement. In this way, it has turned into a powerful engine of integration for Albanian-Americans, but also for the promotion of close ties between American institutions and their counterparts in Albania and Kosovo. Soon, AALEA will organize the visit of a high-level delegation of American officials to Tirana and Pristina.
On an ongoing basis, the Albanian law enforcement community is being confirmed as the most consolidated professional community within the wider Albanian-American community. In the following months, AALEA has planned a number of other important activities.
