Friday brought mixed emotions to the Bytyqi family. A resolution passed by the US Congress meant a lot to them, as it emphasized the importance of solving the case of the murder of the Bytyqi brothers.
Ilir Bytyqi, their brother, told Atlantiku how they have been waiting for this resolution as a family.
“The resolution of the American Congress is a statement that emphasizes the importance of the issues and must be immediately addressed, resolved or exposed and the truth sought,” says Bytyqi.
But what are the demands and expectations of the Bytyqi family after this resolution?
“The statement says that the case of my brothers cannot be ignored by the US government. We demand that Serbia pursues the criminals responsible for killing my brothers,” Bytyqi told Atlantiku.
But, according to Ilir Bytyqir, expectations are not high, especially when analyzing the approach of institutions in Serbia over the years, towards solving the issue of Serbian crimes against Albanians.
“As we all know for the last 23 years, Serbia does not care about the prosecution of criminals in its country, protecting the criminals who harbor them from prosecution, not only the case of my brothers, but all other cases of crimes of the war they have carried out in Kosovo” he says.
Ilir Bytyqi concludes his statement for the Atlantic by thanking the congressmen for passing this resolution.
