Her dreams knew no bounds. Hava Maloku had always had ambitions to work in big companies, but she did not think that she would find a job in a giant company like LinkedIn.

In fact, by securing this job, Maloku is the only Albanian working in the largest professional network on the Internet.

For www.atlantiku.com,  she talked about her journey to work at LinkedIn.

Born and raised in Pristina, Maloku, after completing primary and secondary education, won a scholarship to study in the United States of America. After that, her journey in the academic field has been long.

“I completed my primary and secondary education in Pristina. After finishing high school, I won a scholarship to study at “Graceland University” located in Iowa, USA. For three years, I completed two majors at the faculty: Business Relations and International Business with an orientation in Information Technology. For my master’s studies, I decided to change my residence and go somewhere with a bigger perspective. The dilemma was between New York or San Francisco, since I had been accepted to universities in both cities. I decided to I go to San Francisco even though I had never visited it, but Silicon Valley was just starting to become so I thought it was a good opportunity to be there. I finished my Master’s in Business and Administration (MBA) at the University of San Francisco “and after finishing it, I started working in San Francisco. In the meantime, I also finished my doctorate at “Golden Gate University” in the direction of Marketing,” she says.

However, in order to make her dreams come true, Maloku has worked continuously. For Atlantik, Maloku says that work and dreams have gone parallel to each other.

“I have always had big dreams. Of course, I did not think that I would work at LinkedIn, but I dreamed that I would work in a big company. However, even a dream without a job is not valid. Both go parallel to each other Americans have an expression where they say “aim for the moon and if you miss you’ll still be among the stars” which means if you aim for something, even if you don’t achieve it, you’ll still be somewhere better than where you started. Maloku further declares.

However, what is the role of Hava Maloku in the company LinkedIn?

“I manage the largest product on LinkedIn, LinkedIn Premium. In other words, I manage online marketing through email and websites for Linkedin Premium. Premium is a paid product ($29.99 per month) that is added to the profile and as a result the premium member has access to LinkedIn Learning where he can take online classes considering the library of more than 15,000 classes. The role I have is very responsible, in one week alone I have sent over 130 million emails to members. Which means care must be taken be the maximum that everything is correct because it affects the entire image of the company,” explains Hava Maloku.

Since he is part of this company, Maloku has shown the interest of Kosovars in using the social network, LinkedIn, which is always growing. But, it was not always like this.

At the beginning of this platform, there were no Albanians who used it.

“Kosovo youth have started to use this social network more, especially in recent years. I know when I created my profile in 2008, there were no Albanians on the platform at all. At first, Albanians in the diaspora have slowly started to increase and from then on even those in Kosovo. But especially in recent years, I think they have become very aware of the benefits of being part of the platform. Taking into account that the number of users has increased, I have seen that they also give recommendations in English so that all members can understand platform. This is to be applauded.”

Maloku says that the youth in Kosovo are capable of the international market, therefore it is important to use LinkedIn to open doors to international companies.
