Balkan Session Night in Queens, New York
If you live in New York, and you still don’t have any plans for the weekend, here are some cultural events including Albanian artists that you can attend to.
Albanian American Jazz guitarist, Taulant Mehmeti, is performing tonight at The Keep, in Queens, New York.
The artist Mehmeti and a band, will perform Balkan Rhythms, which he is well known for.
Nearly 10 years ago Taulant came from Prishtina to New York with a big goal, to conquer the biggest scenes in what he calls the world jazz capital.
Balkan sessions will start tonight at 10:30 PM.
The work of the Albanian-American in the Rockefeller Center in New York
Rockefeller Center, if one of the main attractions for visitors in New York City, except this time of the year, instead of flags of UN member states, you will have the chance to see flags of art works by artists from all over the world.
One of the 193 works of art fluttering around the Rockefeller center was created by Albania-American artist Teuta Ibriqaj.
The installation, called “Only One Land”, which will be remained opened until May 1st, was carried out in collaboration with the United Nations and the Museum of Climate in New York, with the aim of raising public awareness about caring for the environment and the risks of climate change.
Ms. Ibriqaj sees this as an extraordinary opportunity for the whole world to see and appreciate her art but also to learn more about Kosovo.
The artist has been living in the United States since 2008. She is currently working on a series of works on Illyrian generations and the origin of Albanians.
