Albanians in the diaspora of America elevate our national name, values, history, and pride every day. Through their patriotic and community activities, Albanians always shine and demonstrate the most cherished values as a people, as a culture, and as a nation in relation to other nations and peoples. Kindness has turned the world’s eyes to Albanians as continuers of Mother Teresa’s global human spirit mission. At the peak of the Global Pandemic and the crisis of prices, Albanians of goodwill amaze people in need and impossibility every day.
The Albanian-American Humanitarian Association “Open Hands” in the Bronx, New York, along with community activist Samantha Zherka, distributed food to around 1,500 individuals of Albanian, Spanish, and American nationality. Samantha Zherka, a lawyer and community activist, sponsored them for their charitable activity on Boston Road in the Bronx, New York, and other streets. The Albanian-American Humanitarian Association “Open Hands” in the Bronx, led by Aleksandër Nilaj and a team of 11-year volunteers, is involved in charitable community activities where, during the Covid-19 Pandemic, they distributed about 10,000 food packages per week to people in need. This humanitarian organization has counted over 100 Albanian and foreign volunteers engaged in charitable activities. Nowadays, every Thursday, this organization assists around 800 people per week, sending food packages to the sick and disabled at their homes.
In addition to individuals in need, the Albanian-American Humanitarian Association “Open Hands” also assists partner charitable organizations and religious entities. In Albania, they continue to send motorcycles for people with disabilities, electrical appliances, and various types of aid for people in need and distress. Albanians who serve, help, and offer their capacities, infrastructure, and time to serve people in need, constitute a national pride in the American diaspora./Dielli
