A local street in New York, United States of America, has been named after the national hero of Albania, Gjergj Kastrioti Skenderbeu.
Albanians there have organized a rally with Albanian music and flags in honor of this event on Sunday, while images have been published in the online media.
On this historic day for the Albanian-American community, the Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, also joined.
Through a post on Twitter, Adams said that it was an honor to participate in the naming of the street “Skanderbeg”.
We’re home to the largest Albanian community in America. They’re small business owners, frontline workers and working families who make our city vibrant.

Democrat Congressman Adriano Espaillat also took part in the ceremony, thanking former New York State Councilman Mark Gjonaj for his contribution.
This is the third street co-named after prominent Albanian personalities.
Besides “Gjergj Kastrioti Skenderbeu”, the other two streets are named “Nene Tereza” and “Fan Noli”.
