100 years ago, the first envoy of the United States of America to Albania, Ulysses Grant-Smith, was appointed. A century ago Grant-Smith had presented his credentials, taking office on December 4, 1922, serving until 1925.

This event symbolizes the early friendship between Albania and the United States of America, which was remembered today by the US Embassy in Tirana.

Ambassador Yuri Kim has said that it is important to remember all those who contributed to this partnership.

“”On this day on December 4, 1922, the first-ever U.S. Envoy to Albania, Ulysses Grant-Smith presented his credentials to the government of Albania in Tirana. Grant-Smith was appointed to the post in September 1922 by President Warren G. Harding and served in Albania until 1925. One hundred years later, we commemorate this special occasion in the early history of the U.S.-Albanian friendship. As the current U.S. Ambassador to Albania, it is my great honor to represent the United States on this 100th Anniversary year. It is also important to recognize and remember all those who contributed to this partnership, Americans and Albanians alike, as well as those who were there at the beginning, like Mister Grant-Smith. It’s a special honor to serve my country in Albania and to meet so many amazing Albanians working to strengthen the bond between our countries. Thank you. Edhe një qind!””, wrote Ambassador Kim
