Albanian-Americans Rally to Support Fallen Officer’s Family

Share

The Albanian-American Association of Law Enforcement (AALEA) has once again demonstrated the profound unity and compassion of the Albanian-American community. The association successfully organized a fundraising campaign to support the family of Officer Nevruz Cenalia, tragically killed in Albania on May 13, 2024.

The fundraising effort saw an overwhelming response from the Albanian community in the United States. The campaign aimed to provide financial assistance to Officer Cenalia’s family, helping them cope with the sudden loss of a husband and father. At a heartfelt ceremony in New Jersey on July 11, 2024, the collected funds were handed over to representatives of Cenalia’s family, a testament to the community’s solidarity.

Elton Shametaj, founder and chairman of AALEA, expressed deep gratitude for the community’s generosity. “The support that we’ve received from our community has been incredibly touching. It’s a testament to our collective spirit and commitment to helping one another in times of need,” Shametaj stated. He emphasized that while the financial help might be small, it’s a significant reminder of the community’s unwavering support.

This successful campaign is not an isolated event for AALEA. The organization has a history of raising considerable funds for similar causes, including a $60,000 campaign for Officer Afrim Bunjaku’s family, following his tragic death during the Banjska terrorist attack in Kosovo. These initiatives highlight AALEA’s ongoing commitment to supporting the families of officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, showcasing the enduring strength and unity of the Albanian-American community.
