German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is expected to start his visit to Kosovo today, where he will be received by Prime Minister Albin Kurti with the highest state honors.

Kurti is also the only leader in the country to meet with the German chancellor. However, the country’s president, Vjosa Osmani, will be at a joint dinner with Scholz in Greece.

She will travel to Greece to attend the Southeast European Co-operation Process (SEECP) Summit of Heads of State.

At this Summit, President Osmani will join the leaders of 13 countries to talk about deepening cooperation with countries in the region and international partners to guarantee peace, security, stability, economic, political and social development in the region. The SEECP Summit will also focus on recent developments in Europe, including the war in Ukraine, as well as their impact on countries in the region.

During the SEECP Summit, Osmani will have a bilateral meeting with the Summit host, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as well as other participants. The President will attend the official dinner of the Summit with the Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz and the President of the EU Council Charles Michel, as announced by the Presidency.

In this SEECP Summit, Osmani will also talk about the role that the Republic of Kosovo is playing in maintaining peace and stability in the region; the importance of regional cooperation based on the principles of equality and inclusion, as well as the need to accelerate the Euro-Atlantic perspective for Kosovo and other democratic countries in the region
