The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Ambassador to London, Ilir Kapiti, met the Minister of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, James Heappey.

The Prime Minister thanked Minister Heappey for the continuous support of the United Kingdom for Kosovo in all phases: liberation, reconstruction, independence, development and democratization.

The announcement of the Prime Minister states that the meeting focused on the very good bilateral relations between the two countries and the possibilities of further intensification of cooperation.

Special cooperation was discussed in the field of defense and security and Prime Minister Kurti expressed Kosovo’s gratitude for the support of professional defense institutions, especially the Sandhurst defense academy for career and specialist education.

The announcement further states that the cadets of the Kosovo Security Force have been promoted and have achieved high results and the KSF has participated three times in the international competition “Cambrian Patrol” in Great Britain, winning once the gold medal, a once silver and once bronze. Preparations are now underway for the next turnout in October.

Talking about security issues, the challenges arising from the unprovoked and unjustified Russian invasion and aggression in Ukraine were highlighted.

Prime Minister Kurti said that the Republic of Kosovo has sided with the democratic world, the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States of America, condemning the attack and imposing sanctions on the Russian Federation.

He also highlighted government assistance to Ukraine, the provision of housing for 5,000 refugees and working conditions for 20 Ukrainian journalists, four of whom have already settled in Kosovo and are continuing to pursue their professions.
