Tonight, organized by the Ministry of Culture and with the presence of the highest institutional and art representatives, the two annual awards in cinematography for 2021 were awarded.
The annual award for Cinematography went to the director Blerta Basholli. This award given to distinguished creators, who with their creativity have left deep traces in the field of cinematography for 2021, director Basholli received from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
The National Award for Life Work “Bekim Fehmiu” was awarded post-mortem to the actor, producer and screenwriter of the first generation in Kosovar cinematography, Abdurrahman Shala. This award, which is given to prominent personalities in the field of cinematography for success, career achievements and special contribution to the advancement of cinematography, was accepted on behalf of the family by Genc Shala, from Minister Hajrulla Çeku.
In his speech, Prime Minister Kurti said that during the last year, but also during this year, Kosovar cinematography reached the highest peaks it has ever reached. According to him, the international representation all over the planet, the extraordinary and countless awards won, reminded us once again that we have the talent inside the house and that we have to work with it and for it.
Mentioning the two important agreements of cinematographic co-production, the one with the state of Israel and with France, the Prime Minister said that these agreements pave the way and offer opportunities for new productions, which means more financing, more exchange of experiences, styles and techniques of filmmaking.
“Our Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports is currently working on the Law on Cinematography, which will be forwarded for discussion in the Assembly of Kosovo. So, there will be many other incentives and facilitations for the field of film. “With the announcement of the film as our Special State Interest, attention and importance will be given to the process of making the film in the country”, said Kurti.
