Albania is ready to exceed the figure of six million tourists this year and approach the 7-million. In addition to the coast, over 260 guesthouses have already been opened in the agritourism sector.
The Minister of Tourism, Mirela Kumbaro, says that the Albanian government has taken all measures to “make the prices reasonable”.
June, July and August are the months when the coast is full of vacationers from Kosovo and around the world. Kumbaro invited the Albanian guests to divide their vacation days between the sea, the mountains, natural sports and tours organized on the paths of Albania.
“This year we think we will have a wider range of geographical tourist map, not only on the coast which is preferred for its diversity. The interior of the territory of Albania offers this summer extraordinary potentials and interesting offers in terms of gastronomy tourism, food tourism. “In terms of agro-tourism, over 260 inns have been opened throughout the territory from Tropoja to Saranda, Korca, Elbasan, Gramsha, Gjirokastra, Përmet and Tepelena,” she said.
The season has been open since March, when tourist groups started to visit many places in Albania in an organized manner.
Kumbaro stressed that the expectations are that Albania will exceed the figure of six million tourists within this year.
“In 2019, which is considered a very good year and we had a record number of guests from around the world, Albania received 6.4 million foreign visitors. In 2021, we welcomed more than we thought, 5.6 million foreign tourists, including guests from Kosovo. “All the data are that this year we have an exponential increase, because the first three months of 2022, were with an increase compared to the previous year”, she says.
The Minister of Tourism promises that measures have been taken to prevent price increases, however he does not rule out such cases in some areas.
“The Albanian government has taken all measures to keep prices at reasonable levels, but we must keep in mind that we are in a year that has an increase in the price of energy and fuel globally. “What we have done is that for all family members and small business, where restaurants and hotels are included, the price of energy does not change”, said Kumbaro.
