The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with the Vice President of Switzerland, Alain Berset, during the World Economic Forum that is taking place in Davos.
During the meeting, the close friendly relations and close human ties between Kosovo and Switzerland were highly praised.
The announcement issued by the Kurti’s government states that Berset said that Kosovo is a priority country for the Swiss Confederation.
“It was emphasized the expansion and deepening of cooperation as close as possible to common interests and issues, such as the socio-economic development of Kosovo and the stability and prosperity of the Western Balkans. “Switzerland’s commitment for many years in achieving these objectives was praised, which is also reflected in the programs of development cooperation and peace support”, it is said in the announcement.
Berset reaffirmed Switzerland’s strong support for Kosovo’s formal application to the Council of Europe.
They also talked about the opportunities for sustainable economic development of Kosovo, to improve the well-being of citizens, to ensure social and economic justice, as well as opportunities for bilateral exchange in various fields, especially in health.
Kurti stressed institutional stability, rule of law, fight against crime and corruption and positive economic indicators in the Republic of Kosovo. He highlighted the Kosovo diaspora in Switzerland as an integral part of the country’s development.
Talking about the developments in Ukraine, Berset said that Switzerland welcomes the clear position of Kosovo.
Kurti stressed the need for further coordination and close cooperation between Kosovo and the democratic world, to counter Russian aggression, but also to face the impact and possible consequences in the Western Balkans region.
