After 9 years, Sali Berisha is re-elected at the head of the Democratic Party.

“Today the Democrats with their vote proved that the party already belongs to them,” said Albana Vokshi, while reading the voter numbers in all branches.

43,680 Democrats voted in total, of which 40,820 voted for Sali Berisha, while 2,532 for Ibsen Elez. The new leader of the Democratic Party won with 93.45 percent of the vote, while 5.8 percent of Democrats supported Elez in this race.

328 votes were declared invalid.

The results were clearly in favor of Berisha, while Ibsen Elezi, the only one in the race with the historic leader of the DP, had received fewer votes.

This Sunday, May 22, voting took place in 108 polling stations across the country.

Voting started at 8:00 a.m. and continued normally until 8:00 p.m., two hours after the official schedule announced due to turnout.
