Bosnian MP Sabina Cudic has sent a letter to Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama after the Albanian Parliament refused to vote on a resolution condemning Serbia’s genocidal crimes in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She asked Rama the reasons for rejecting the resolution and hypothesized whether the reason was his co-operation with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on the Open Balkans project.
Through this letter, she tells Rama that she wants Albania to be on the side of the West and not in the position, as she writes, where she was in the time of Enver Hoxha.
In the letter that the MP sent to Rama, she recalls that the International Court of Justice in The Hague has found since 1995, that over 8,000 people have been killed and over 40,000 Bosnian citizens have been expelled from the war with Serbia.
Explaining the facts, Cudic asked for an explanation from the Albanian Prime Minister as to why the resolution was not included in the agenda of the Albanian Parliament.
“At the beginning, I reminded you that the International Court of Justice in The Hague, in July 1995, found that more than 8,000 people had been killed, and that more than 40,000 people had been deported, most of whom never returned to their homes. We are still searching for the remains of over 1000 victims. The rulings of the International Court of Justice in The Hague have unequivocally concluded that genocide was committed against the Bosniaks of Srebrenica. Unfortunately, I have to remind you with pain in 2022. These are things that should not be the subject of political speculation, if there really is a political will for this genocide to be judged by a Resolution. Based on your statements in which you acknowledge the genocide as well as the statements of Albania’s opposition leaders, political will exists. “Therefore, you have an obligation to explain to the European public, especially to the Albanians and Bosniaks-Herzegovinians, why the Resolution for the trial of the genocide in Srebrenica did not enter the agenda of the Albanian Parliament”, she wrote.
Addressing the Albanian Prime Minister, she said that his non-argumentative way of explaining the case in question, is humiliating for the victims and all people. She expressed her impression that Rama did not accept the vote on the resolution just because it was proposed by an opposition party.
