Ukraine will not open humanitarian corridors for trapped civilians today due to “danger on the routes”.
In a social media post, the country’s deputy prime minister Iryna Vereshchuk wrote: “Due to the danger on the routes today, 22 April, there will be no humanitarian corridors.
“To all those waiting to be evacuated: be patient, please hold on!”
Previous evacuation corridors, which have had differing levels of success, have allowed people to get out of dangerous areas and brought humanitarian aid.
Last week, data released by the International Organisation for Migration showed around seven million people were now internally displaced in Ukraine due to the war.
Millions more have fled to neighbouring countries.
