Share

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell visited a mass grave in Buca, a city near Kiev where Russian forces are accused by the West of committing massacres of civilians.

While visiting the graves, Von der Leyen said that Buca is an example of the crumbling of humanity.

“The unthinkable happened here, where we saw the cruel face of Putin’s army. We have seen the madness and heart coldness with which they have conquered the city. “Here in Buça we saw humanity crumble and the whole world is sharing the pain with the inhabitants of the city”, said the president of the EC.

Von der Leyen sent a message to the brave citizens of Ukraine that the EU stands by them and will continue to support them as much as possible. “We know you are fighting for our common values and that democracy will win,” Von der Leyen said.

The President of the European Commission and the High Representative of the European Union also announced 500 million euros in arms aid to Ukraine, bringing the total aid to 1.5 billion euros since the start of the Russian occupation.
