Besa Sharrah has been appointed as a member of the Eastern European Commission in the state of Ohio after being selected by Governor Mike DeWine.
The appointment comes at a sensitive moment for political and strategic developments across Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans, as the region continues to face geopolitical tensions, security challenges, and the ongoing impact of the war in Ukraine.
Sharrah described the appointment as “a great honor” and an important responsibility. She said she plans to focus on promoting democratic values and supporting stronger institutions throughout Eastern Europe.
“Cooperation is essential to ensure citizens’ voices are heard and democracy continues to advance despite today’s challenges,” she stated.
