Kosova and Albania have been formally invited to join a new international initiative called the “Board of Peace,” launched by U.S. President Donald J. Trump, according to official letters sent from the White House.
In a letter dated January 20, 2026, addressed to President Vjosa Osmani, Trump invites the Republic of Kosova to become a Founding Member State of the Board of Peace, describing the initiative as a historic global effort aimed at establishing lasting world peace, prosperity, and international cooperation.
A similar letter was sent earlier to Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama on January 16, 2026, inviting Albania to join the same body as a founding member, signaling a joint inclusion of both Albanian-speaking states in the proposed framework.
According to the letters, the Board of Peace is envisioned as a new international organization that would bring together selected nations willing to take a leading role in global peace-building and conflict resolution. Member states would be represented at the highest level and may designate authorized representatives to participate in the Board’s work.
The initiative is linked to Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, a 20-point roadmap announced in September 2025. Trump states that the plan received broad international support and was later welcomed by the United Nations Security Council through Resolution 2803.
While no details have yet been released regarding the first official meeting, location, or structure of the Board, the invitations mark a notable diplomatic development for both Kosova and Albania, positioning them among a select group of states invited to participate at the founding stage of the initiative.
