Recent online rankings from the International IQ Test — a free global IQ testing platform taken by millions since 2018 — show the latest IQ averages across the Balkans for 2026.

The results place Albania at the top of the region with an average IQ of 101, closely followed by Slovenia at 101.1. Serbia and Greece follow with averages just below 100, while Croatia, North Macedonia, Romania, and Montenegro show scores in the high 98s. Kosovo averages 97.9, slightly ahead of Bulgaria, with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey rounding out the region with averages in the low 97s.

The International IQ Test collects results from people who voluntarily take its online assessment, using Raven-style questions to estimate general cognitive ability and standardizing the global average at 100. The platform has been taken by over 16 million participants worldwide since its launch.

While this ranking provides an interesting snapshot of how participants from different countries performed, it is not an official scientific measurement of a nation’s IQ. The results reflect only those who chose to take this particular online assessment, meaning some demographics may be over-represented while others are under-represented.
