Një shqiptar i identifikuar si Armando Iberhasaj ka shpëtuar nga deportimi drejt Shqipërisë, pasi një gjyqtare e imigracionit në Mbretërinë e Bashkuar vendosi se dërgimi i tij do të ishte tepër i ashpër për partneren e tij, e cila nuk flet shqip dhe nuk ka lidhje me Shqipërinë.
Iberhasaj ishte dënuar me katër muaj burgim për kultivim të mbi 200 bimëve kanabis në një shtëpi në Bolsover, Derbyshire. Ai kishte hyrë ilegalisht në Mbretërinë e Bashkuar në vitin 2019 dhe u arrestua brenda disa muajve pas ardhjes së tij.
Ai argumentoi para gjykatës se deportimi do të shkelte të drejtën e tij për jetë familjare sipas Konventës Evropiane për të Drejtat e Njeriut (KEDNJ), duke theksuar se partnerja e tij nuk kishte vizituar kurrë Shqipërinë dhe nuk fliste gjuhën shqipe.
Gjyqtarja Sarah Pinder pranoi argumentet e tij, duke thënë se deportimi do të kishte pasoja të papërshtatshme për partneren e tij, përfshirë vështirësitë sociale dhe praktike në jetën e saj të përditshme.
Ky vendim erdhi ndërkohë që qeveria britanike po shqyrton masa për të kufizuar përdorimin e të drejtave familjare nga kriminelë të huaj për të shmangur deportimin.
