“Isa Boletini Street” to be inaugurated in New York

Share

On November 30, Staten Island, New York, will inaugurate a street named after Albanian national hero Isa Boletini, marking a historic moment that coincides with Albania’s Independence Month. The ceremony will take place at the intersection of Father Capodanno Blvd and Seaview Avenue, next to the street already named after Ismail Qemali, creating a powerful symbolism that connects two of the most important figures in Albanian history.

The initiative was made possible thanks to the efforts of the Albanian community in Staten Island, particularly the Albanian American Association led by its president, Naser Nika. His dedication, along with the support of the wider Albanian diaspora in the U.S., ensured that Isa Boletini’s name will now stand proudly in a public space in New York, as a testament to the community’s pride and respect for its history and heroes.

Representatives of the Boletini family, including Armend Murati, expressed their gratitude for this achievement, calling it a meaningful act that strengthens the ties between the diaspora and its national heritage. Having Isa Boletini’s name alongside Ismail Qemali’s sends a strong message that the memory of Albania’s heroes and their sacrifices continues to be honored, regardless of distance.
