Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani announced that at the end of May she received information from security institutions about a possible escalation planned by Serbia. She assured citizens that there is no need to panic.

Osmani held a press conference in Pristina on Thursday afternoon, providing new details about the statements he made during his visit to the United States of America, that: US President Donald Trump recently prevented a security escalation in Kosovo by Serbia.

“At the end of May, we received information about Serbia’s actions near the border with Kosovo. This is reliable information from our security institutions” Osmani declared, emphasizing that all measures have been taken to mobilize and protect the country.

Osmani says that she made the statements made in the US only based on how she understood Trump’s words and did not interpret them. Trump has repeatedly mentioned in recent weeks that he has prevented a conflict between Kosovo and Serbia.

Furthermore, the president stated that the statements of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, that they are not interested in escalation, are part of their ongoing propaganda.

“Serbia’s declarations that they do not want escalation are part of their usual propaganda. They said the same words before the aggression in Banjska in 2023 and before the attack on Ibër-Lepenc” Osmani stated.

The President assured citizens that there is no reason for concern or panic.

“Our institutions are on duty and have everything under control. Threats from Serbia are constant, but we will not allow any destabilizing plan to be realized” she added.

She added that information about Serbia’s destabilizing tendencies has been shared with the public whenever possible, but due to the classified nature of some of it, she asked for understanding from citizens.

US envoy Richard Grenell had accused Osmani of manipulating President Trump’s words about preventing the escalation of a conflict between Kosovo and Serbia, saying that it was not about recent times.
