In a proud and emotional ceremony, Sokol Delisi was officially sworn in as Village Clerk of Lincolnwood, marking a historic moment for the local Albanian-American community.
Delisi was elected on April 1, 2025, receiving 1,409 votes as the sole candidate on the ballot under the Lincolnwood Alliance Party. A first-generation Albanian-American, Delisi’s journey from the son of immigrants to public office is a powerful reflection of the American dream in motion.
“In 1988, my parents immigrated from Dibra e Madhe with just some luggage and little money, chasing their dream of a better life in America” Delisi shared in his speech. “They worked tirelessly to raise me and my sisters. Their story is my motivation to serve.”
Before his election, Delisi served on the Lincolnwood Parks and Recreation Board, where he pushed for stronger community engagement and better access to public programs. He now plans to modernize the Village Clerk’s office by improving how historical decisions are documented, aiming for more transparency and efficiency.
Professionally, Delisi works as a project manager at KLDiscovery, a global legal technology company. His expertise in managing complex operations and regulatory compliance will now serve the people of Lincolnwood.
Members of the Albanian American Community of Illinois (AACI), local leaders, and Delisi’s family were present at the swearing-in ceremony, making it a moment of pride for many.
“From the children of immigrants to leaders in public office – Sokol’s story is our story” one attendee said.
